Hi, Im Gaby
WEDDINGS & COUPLES
I'm a Florida wedding photographer with a background in documentary photography and a love for capturing people exactly as they are. What started with a used Nikon and an encouragement to keep creating eventually became a career built around documenting some of life's most meaningful moments.
After photographing nearly 60 weddings, I still love knowing that the images I create today will mean even more years from now.
It all started with a used Nikon
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and my love for photography started when I was gifted a used Nikon camera. I photographed everything—landscapes, people, my family—anything that gave me an excuse to pick up my camera.
An art teacher saw something in my work and encouraged me to enter photography competitions through my high school. After placing second in each one I entered, I remember thinking, this is the only thing I've ever won at... maybe there's something here. So I followed it.
That eventually took me to the Savannah College of Art and Design, where I studied documentary photography with every intention of becoming a photojournalist.
And then I photographed a wedding.
Then
Savannah has an incredible wedding industry, and during my senior year I decided to see what wedding photography was all about. I began assisting photographers in Savannah and Miami, and it didn't take long for me to realize I had found the kind of work I wanted to build my career around.
What drew me to photojournalism in the first place was the idea that a photograph could preserve something meaningful. Wedding photography gave me that same purpose, but on an incredibly personal level.
These aren't photographs that disappear after the wedding. They're the photographs you'll come back to years from now. They'll show you the people who were there, the way you looked at each other, the moments you didn't even realize were happening—and eventually, they'll become part of your family's history.
That's what made me fall in love with weddings.
Experience built behind the camera
After college, my fiancé and I spent two years traveling and living in Washington, D.C. and North Carolina before eventually making Tampa home. Throughout those years, I photographed weddings and events of my own while continuing to work alongside established wedding photographers and learn from different approaches, timelines, venues, cultures, and celebrations.
Today, I've photographed nearly 60 weddings throughout that journey, and every one has shaped the photographer I am now.
That experience has taught me when to step in and give direction, when to quietly observe, how to anticipate a moment before it happens, and how to stay calm when a wedding day inevitably doesn't go exactly according to plan.
Now, I've planted roots in Tampa and am building Gaby Martinez Photography around everything I loved about those experiences: thoughtful storytelling, beautiful imagery, and a genuinely personal experience for every couple I photograph.
The way I photograph a wedding
My documentary background still influences everything I do. I want your photographs to be beautiful and intentional without your wedding day feeling like a photoshoot.
I'll step in when you need direction, create the space for beautiful portraits, and then know when to let a moment unfold naturally. The result is a gallery that blends refined, editorial imagery with the genuine, unscripted moments that make the day yours.
Because years from now, I don't just want you to remember what your wedding looked like. I want your photographs to bring you back to what it felt like.
